Nice picture but the correct term is a Herring Weir it's a type of pen in a way but the fish are usually only in the Weir for no more that 32-48 hours after being trapped by the "shut-off" at the mouth of the weir. You picture needs to be moved to the north east to reside close to the Head Harbour lighthouse.
