I lived the first 17 years of my life in Paterson. I was there in 1976 when President Gerald Ford dedicated the falls a National Historic Landmark/Monument. I believe the true name of the falls is either: "The Great Falls of Paterson" or "The Passaic Falls" (since it is part of the Passaic River. The park overlooking the falls is "Overlook Park". Next to the park is Hinchcliffe Stadium where John F Kennedy HS (aka Paterson Kennedy) plays it's home games.

Pretty sure it was The Great Falls. Used to play there as a kid. Left Paterson in the 80's. They used to have The Falls Festival every year and it was wonderful.
