Nice shot Ian, I didn't know that you can find Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) in New Zealand. Greetings Berend

It is great that you are a "birdie", Berend, for your identification is appreciated. It is a long swim from Canada to NZ, and a very long haul flight so I wonder if they were imported. They are certainly at home in the environment.

Look what I found, Berend:

"Canada Geese were introduced to New Zealand from the United States as a gift from US President Theodore Roosevelt, where they are still the most familiar geese in Alaska and across North America. They are classified into over 15 subspecies varying in size and shading. The giant Canada goose, maxima was introduced into New Zealand although other sub species, tavernii and canadensis may have mixed with it.

“... in New Zealand, there are now so many of them they are sometimes regarded as a pest."_

They're also introduced in Europe and we see them now also in great numbers Ian. Greetings Berend
