Jokkmokk old church was built in 1753 but burned down 1972. It was rebuilt and re-opened in 1976. The church is built of horizontal logs and painted with "Falu red paint" a special and typical Swedish red paint, made of scrap material from the Falun copper mine. This red paint is used all over the country primarily on houses, barns and almost every timber or log buildings.
