the gate, what it means?

pedrocut on September 17, 2011

Hi Diggory

The gate is called a Lych Gate and it is a gateway to the traditional English Church. Many date from the mid 1400's.

It was used as the first point that the clergy met the corpse in the funeral service.

Hi Peter! Weird it is!The gate that leads to the dead...."Beyond the graves lies the gate the gate that leads to the dead We have to leave before the dawn if not by the sun we will burn"

Somehow I missed this stranded Lychgate Peter

It looks strange just out there in the green like that. Its fence or wall went a long time ago.

All the best ol' buddy

But the question is Jethro, would you walk through or round the Gate?

Regards Peter

I would have walked through it Peter because the grass is wet and I have my best shoes on for church!
