Sometimes we can see them, but not very often. These were definitely rare! I've only ever seen them once before that, in my hometown, Guelph. Much more subtle there with the light pollution. There is some predictability to them, but I'm guessing that its much further north. The photo was taken at my parents cottage, and it was definitely a surprise! We were sitting inside that evening, but something caught my eye, so yes grabbed the cam/tripod and started shooting. It lasted 15 minutes, if I recall. It was such a surreal experience! Someday I hope to visit up north to take some more photos, and to take in the scenery too!
