I'm actually not sure if many people know this, since I am a local, but you can travel to the top and look out several windows. The elevators that take you up are older, so you feel like you might go freefalling to your death. It is worth going to the top though.

Thank you for your comment. We've been to the top of the arch and we've enjoyed the beautiful view. Greetings form the Netherlands, Pieter and Marianne

I took the trip to the top in 1979 when I backpacked around the USA - well worth the trip up - if only for the cool railway device they have!! Real cool museum underneath it too!!

Our tour group stopped in Saint Louis and we got to see the arch. Unfortunately, the Air Conditioning was out in the arch so we couldn't go to the top.

In 1970 while temporarily working at Western Union in St. Louis a very beautiful girl named Cathy R. took me to the Arch on a Saturday, and I enjoyed the tour very much. I miss Cathy a lot too, I wonder how she is doing now, and hope she has a happy life. Wish you all the best Cathy. Wish I can see you again my dear friend.
