César Manrique was not only an architect, he was also sculptor, painter, landscape artist, urban designer, monument preserver, environmentalist and construction advisor,
a man with a great vision.
He wrote: ‘When I returned from New York, I came with the intention of turning my native island into one of the more beautiful places on the planet, due to the endless possibilities that Lanzarote had to offer, it was an ambition he triumphantly fulfilled.
The natives still today say that he has "made" Lanzarote.
