The Pont du Gard

The Pont du Gard was part of the famous Roman aqueduct 50 km long which was built under Emperor Claudius around 50 AD. This aqueduct was built to meet the water needs of Nîmes City. The water came from a source upstream and came pouring in Nîmes City in the ducts of a water tower called Castellum Divisarium.
