very nicely done... what did you do to obtain this fantastic photo.

Also can you explain some of your tags for me... PS i assumed is photoshopped... but the x2.2 etc.. i am lost!

Michael Braxenthaler, on June 29, 2007, said:

Thanks, Retrocool! There's no special stuff I did for this shot. I took it using a tripod, no flash - which resulted in these deep colors. Beyond that just very standard clean-up (PS levels, a bit noise reduction) and a little sharpening.

Concerning the tags: All tags starting with underscore are really not meant for public. I use them to keep track of what happens to the images in panoramio (Google Earth uploads, in the popular set - the precursor for Google Earth, view count binning, that kind of stuff)

FIRST... FANTASTIC with that pic again.

SECOND.. how interesting... so there is a way to track what is popular then..hmmm interesting...

I am still new and will figure it out

Oh, ok, I see what you're after. Sorry, I forgot, there used to be extensive information on these topics in the forum. Unfortunately this is now disabled, possible in the context of the take-over by Google.

The 'Popular Set' is the set of pictures deemed worthwhile by the panoramio folks to be passed on to Google Earth. It's a necessary but insufficcient step, i.e. making it to the popular set does not guarantee making it into Google Earth. You can see if your image is in the popular set: Look for a flag 'remove from popular set' on the individual image page. If the flag is there, the image is in the popular set. (My PS- tag flags images that are not in the popular set).

I hope that helps to start with. If you have more questions, just let me know. I'd be happy to help...

Hey Michael, I've just been browsing your collection (not finished yet!) but had to stop and make comment on this capture. Really stunning - great composition, perfect DOF, wonderful colours.

..and I'm glad I'm not a mouse being watched by that beady eye!!

Danke für die Auskunft, Rolf. Gruss, --michael

Thanks, T NL. Yes, I did use a tripod (wish I had a hand steady enough to get this shot without tripod... :-)
