Dear Fried and Nick,

We are of one mind on this image. I liked the simplicity of lines and curves too. Thanks for your appreciation of it.

For this I used the 300mm lens looking almost due north. It took me a while to locate it GE for in 12 months I had forgotten just where I stopped to take the photo, so the hunt was on to find the windbreak and the hill with its gorse spills down its front. As it turns out the windbreak is 5.5Kms away and the hill 8.5Kms and GE images are not all that good here. But once it was deciphered I did recall my stop and short walk to a vantage point.

Warmest regards to you both.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your appreciation and honour. It is a simple photo really, but the shapes and colours appealed to me.

Right now my attention has turned to Christchurch and the earthquake disaster there,

Kind regards,

Ian

Great shot Ian, I like the different colours and the line of trees. Greetings Berend

Ian Stehbens on February 22, 2011

Thanks Berend. That windbreak was so important to me when I was puzzling over the GE imagery in several hours of trying geolocate this one, Berend. In the end, I realised I had underestimated the effect of a 300mm lens! The peak turns out is 8.5kms from me, and the windbreak 5.5kms from me!! It seems easier to locate photos taken from plane windows over outback Australia, than a ground shot in treeless NZ!

Greetings,

Ian
