The Mona monkeys were introduce to Grenada, probably in the time of the slave trade.
The troop at Grand Etang lost their favourite trees during hurricane Ivan in 2004. Local people helped feed them after the storm as their was little or no food.
There are many monkeys in the forest, but not many are seen. This troop is popular with the tourists. If you go to Grand Etang, don't forget to take bananas. If they are there, they will take (snatch) them from your hand.

Beautiful. Thank you for explaining! Maybe that's why he (she) looks so sad?

Please do not give these monkeys sweets! I have seen tourists offering anything they have. Sweets will ruin their teeth, but they don't have dentists to go to!
