How can we not feel for the common man, the common soldier no matter what side he was on. They were all simply doing what was their perceived and ordered duty, and that's all a soldier can do. It's good to see Germany has done well at last and old wounds are hopefully healed. Mistakes were made on each side before and after the Great War. If only we could all learn from them.
