I remember learning about these in geography many (very many!) years ago. Who would have thought there was one right under my nose.

Great example of an ox bow lake, and of things you learn.

Also how much there is to see under your nose. Perhaps we come to see this too late in life!

Hi Peter

The ox bow does not show very well on GoogleEarth but thankfully a line of trees had been removed allowing an elevated vantage point. Also in the shot are some pollarded willow, perhaps I will take more photos today.

Good find Kenny,a Geography lesson for me too,i didn't even know they existed,never mind having one in our area.Mr Google tells me they're caused by erosion of the river,so your lake must have been there a long long time.
