Here is shot of Parchment from When Eastern Michigan Rode the Rails, Schramm, Interurban Press, Page 139. Caption Reads:
"Parlor car 801 has discharged workers for the nearby paper mills in Kalamazoo. The car will now pick up speed and head for Monteith Junction and Grand Rapids. The Interurban company used hat checks similiar to those used on steam roads, rather than a fare register. Lenderink Collection
The semaphores were to provide protection for the CK&S which the MERR crossed just to the North of this photo.
