Imagine being right here 6, June, 1944. With bullets, mortars, shell fire and shrapnel as thick as rain from a summer thunder storm. I consider myself to be a pretty fearless man but I don't think I would have been able to get out of the water. The crime we have committed is waiting until so many who did make it through and come home to go clear :"that's Southern for die" before we started trying to get as many 1st hand stories as we could on film, tape or even paper. I believe with all my heart that these men and women were the greatest generation. They came home to America and started the jet age, space age, TV, and from all of the productivity that came from their hard work made home ownership, education, health care and productivity itself the best in the world. We now fall at the bottom of the so called 1st world countries in every area but Space and productivity, but are near the bottom in productivity. What a waste of a wealth of information we let go clear without learning the lessons they could have taught us.

Nice comments by TECHSGTJQMOORE,,
I enjoy reading comments like this, I Whole-heartedly agree with every word
"It is up to us...to work together for progress and humanity so that our grandchildren, when they look back at us, can truly say that we not only preserved the flame of freedom, but cast its warmth and light further than those who came before us."
best wishes from France.
