view west from La Popa convent - the island of Manga is in the foreground and the peninsula of Boca Grande is across the upper bay. The old city of Cartagena is off-frame to the right.
I used to live in Cartagena from 1955 until 1957, I lived out at the end of the peninsula, 2 houses down from the Hotel del Caribe. My back yard was fenced from the beach and I used to watch fishermen bobbing in dugout canoes, dynamiting fish in the breakers. This place has REALLY changed - where all the high rises are were all lovely old Spanish style homes and palms and trees - has it ever changed! My house is gone. Tom Bell
I hear the city of Cartagena is "exploding" with development - maybe the remnant neighborhoods of Boca Grande that remained in '05 may soon disappear. Guess I will have to go back and take another pic!
