My husband and I were professional landscape photographers--long before Photoshop existed. He has 5 nationally published books still on Amazon.com. My point is: You'd be surprised at the many old hat tricks that we used to get effects. For me the point of this image is that it captures the feeling that one finds in Scotland--the eerie, other-time of a land with blood, feuds and toil. This is not just about the sky, it carries the mood right down to the cairn and the knowing of other men or women who have stood there also. For a landscape it carries powerful emotions. I will vote on this.

Lovely image. In the small stone ring, to the front right of the picture, is another recently planted Sycamore tree. Sycamore Gap is an iconic image along Hadrian's Wall. When the big tree dies - as they do - another will already be part grown to take its place in the landscape.
