This was a frozen pool on Fan Frynych. It looks as though the surface froze in wet conditions, and then the water level in the pool sank and the ice sheet collapsed to give the odd effect shown. Pen y Fan (Highest peak in South Wales) is to the left in the distance and Corn Du to the right, under the cloud.
