Manfred, vielen Dank! Mittlerweile bin ich in Wales angelangt mit Hochladen der Fotos, entschuldige bitte meine chronische Verspätung mit Antworten. Liebe Grüsse, May

Joe, Nilson Edvandro, thank you very much! My best regards, May

Vincent, merci pour tes mots si aimables, mon ami! Tu as raison, sans le panneau ce serait un paysage assez triste dans ces conditions météorologiques. :) Amitiés, May

The small gap in the hills near the left of the picture is where Rossett Gill descends. I spent my ninth birthday hiking up the trail alongside the gill. I have a watercolour in my kitchen made by my late father showing the end of the valley. Rossett Crag is the mountain to the right of Rossett Gill. Stickle Pike, one of the Langdale Pikes is the mountain with the fairly sharp summit to the right. The stone age axEmans cave was in the gully in front of Stickle Pike. Gimmer Crag is the peak that is closer to the camera.

In the location picture the row of trees are alongside the gill that comes down not too far from the cattle grid (Texas Gate). The farm is Wall End Farm which used to be owned by the Myres family in the 1950's. We used to camp alongside the gill about half way between the farm and where the road crossed the gill in the valley bottom. In one of the three isolated trees in the field, where the trunk split into two my late sister when a child made a miniature rock garden.

Denis, thank you so much! Your memories and tales make the picture come to life! With those informations I hope to pass again this region and to look more closely to the places you mentionend.

Warm regards, May
