Thanks Rich. Now the hard part is to attempt doing drops in the wild. I'm not sure where to start!

This is, out of any doubt, a very honorable homage to Greti. This photo is wonderful. I like the colors very much: intense and delicate at same time.

Thanks Luis for a great comment. Your praise is most welcome. :)

Nice. Very Nice.
Billy B@rk, on October 13, 2007, said:
Thanks pschaefli & oldhamwa. I placed a coloured glass object in a bath of water then used a very high shutter speed and flash to capture water dripping into the bath. A lots of shots & a lot of luck was used!

Lovely shot, indeed a good homage to Greti ( I call her the Mistress of Macro) I don't know a great deal about photography......what stop /speed etc do you use to get a shot like this?

Billy B@rk, on October 27, 2007, said:
What a great name for Greti! I honestly know very little about photography & most of my stuff is 'trial by error'! For this shot I set my shutter speed to the quickest setting, 4000 (don't ask what that means!), used a flash & took about 50 shots 'till I got a coulple the shape I wanted & in focus!
Palmina Moore, on October 27, 2007, said:
I read the books, but I find I'm very er..... what's the right terminology........technically challenged....no that's no it.......oh yes..........stupid!!!!! None of it makes any sense to me. I'm fine if someone says if you press that, this happens but the Fstops, exposure and shutter thing just doesn't sink in. Maybe some day someone will "paint a picture" for me and it will just stick!

I’ve looked at your gallery Palmina and you are obviously doing something right.
Palmina Moore, on October 28, 2007, said:
Thanks Billy, just point and shoot and hope for the best at this stage. P
Billy B@rk, on October 29, 2007, said:
Hi Palmina. I don't know how I've never noticed this before but if you look to the right hand side of any photo you are looking at in Panoramio, there's a link Photo extra information. Press that & it will tell you about exposure, ect. used in that photo. Like me you probably won't understand half of it! :)
Palmina Moore, on October 29, 2007, said:
Hi BIlly, Yep I think this thing appeared about 2 weeks ago, maybe in an update. I have looked at it and am trying to "copy" the settings for my shots. I think I might be getting there, slowly, but getting there!

I've just looked at your Pods & Needles photo & I can confirm that you are certainly getting there! Very well done.
Nawitka, on November 5, 2007, said:
It is amazing! So you use a clear but coloured glass object, like a vase? and an ordinary bath tub? I'm not sure my camera has a shutter speed of 1/4000 -- and I know for sure that the flash is not great for macro shots. I admire your patience.
Billy B@rk, on November 5, 2007, said:
Thanks for your comment Nawitka. 1/4000 is the fastest setting on my camera & the one I use for this kind of shot but you could try a slightly slower speed. Go for it! :)
Matthew Walters, on November 8, 2007, said:
Excellent capture, Billy. Practice certainly pays off - and it's great not having to pay for the duff ones, too!
Billy B@rk, on November 8, 2007, said:
I never thought about that before Matthew. Can you imagine putting your film in to get developed and waiting days to see if any shots were useable. And what to you do with the duff ones after paying for them!
Matthew Walters, on November 8, 2007, said:
Make a huge montage and call it 'Feedback' :)
Billy B@rk, on November 8, 2007, said:
Good one Matthew. Since I pressed the shutter too soon on most shots, I think I’d be calling them something like ‘Calm Waters’.

Hi Cheryl. I really enjoyed your New Zealand shots, it must have been anamazing holiday. I've been to Oz 4 times (Melbourne & Coolangatta) so I was looking at your gallery with interest. great photos but the only place I recognised was North Burleigh Head as I'm sure we drove by it on the way to Surfers Paradise?

I never thought I'd be able to do it. But all you need is a very fast shutter speed & lots of luck! :)

Kathy, the colours came from a blown glass ornament that I had placed in the water. I was lucky & very happy with the way the splash caught its reflection.
Thanks Rosina. I’m pleased you think it is worth a Yellow Star. :)
