OH America! I stand on guard for thee!!! :D
Yes, yes, I protect her from the snow by holding it up here.. ;P
Nice patriotic photo Bits!
Have to flag this one!
As 'very appropriate!' I hope, Tery! :D
Thanks GG! Glad you remember ;D
And now can any of the Canadians tell us who sewed the first Canadian Flag?
I think it was silkscreened
by a committee
LOLOL! But at least the committee must have been able to agree on a Maple Leaf. Funny that they'd have made a hockey team your national flag, though!
Not sure that Lester B would let a committee decide anything.
Wikipedia has an article about it (of course) Flag of Canada. Apparently it was a huge brou-ha-ha to select the design. I didn't know that the designer was .... (wait for it ...) George STANLEY! Probably not related to Lord Stanley or The Cup. Or the Leafs.
I remember some of the designs that were offered but we didn't get to vote on it - all decided for us like going to war or raising minimum wage
wow - I had no idea the flag design was so recent!!! Sure am glad they didn't go with the one with three eaves - lol, that one looked like Poison Ivy!!
And has anyone else noticed that only those who live in Canada have commented on my photo of this historic American site? lol!
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all!
Hand on <3 GG
north of the border, but still a true blue American at heart!!!!! :D Thanks GG!
That bunting is so American. I don't think we even have bunting up here.
LOL, sure you do. From photos I see from the QCI - it's moss!!!
I've got to get me by this place again and go inside one of these days. Being from Boston and being so used to just walking by all the historic spots and never going inside, I need to learn to start being a tourist!
I thnak you for the history lesson Bits. Today I learned who made the flags of both our countries and why the Canadian flag is red and white. Cheers, from the Great (Red and) White North, Tom.
