Hello, Gerry, first thanks for your comment and for your question. But the answer is not so easy because I´m missing a few words in my English vocabulary... I´ll have a try: Zwinger is a square completely surrounded by buildings, king "August der Starke" ("..the strong") from Saxonia let build in the beginning of the 18th century. It was used for leisure with gardens, theatre, an orangery etc. As well it was a representative building for reception of other statesmen. Nowadays it´s used as a museum for art, Dresden china and old physical instruments. To get a better impression see an additional picture
Hello, Gerry, thanks for your compliments on my English, but in this case I had to use a dictionary several times... . You are right according to what you say about German architecture. It was strongly impressed by the French Royals and their castles, for example Versailles, so we´ve got a lot of large and beautiful castles with excessive splendour...
