Thanks Alan, Frank the irritating thing about here is the park now "opens" at 8am. So if you park in the lot at the entrance before 8am you may get a ticket! That policy was instituted 3-4 years ago. This shot was taken before they started the 8am thing.

Very nice image! So you ran up against the California State Parks system. This very high-handed activity is typical. Originally, the system started as a management organization, and it was very good. In the
60s it became a law-enforcement agency. Law-enforcement and management are almost opposed at polar angles. Also, the two approaches are almost opposite in how they spend money. We had an example here in Columbia last year -- a two-holer for the Pioneer saloon, wood construction, that cost 85 thousand dollars. The fixtures don't even match. As law-enforcement officers, they leave quite a bit to be desired. Here they strut, self-importantly, around in their harnesses and bullet-proof vests, and when an emergency happens they disappear to call the Sheriff's department. Think how much money the state would save if the department were again made a management agency, and all law enforcement were contracted out to local sheriffs and marshals.Twould also inject money into the local economy. 55 years ago, I worked for the Parks and Recreation system here in Columbia. A group of about six of us got more work done during the day than the guys here now get done in a week. But then we didn't take a half-hour coffee break at 10:00 a.m. . . . . EdTranslate
