re-edit to get more of a realistic result? seems to me the only realisitc edit is not to edit at all or photo shop or any of those things that make you a good photographer but a better computer user. On your web site you mention nature photography as unprofitable, this is why. i've gone to trade shows where the biggest sign they have up is one that says "These photos are AS IS", no computer aided gimmicks. People were lining up to buy them. Hmmm...

i can tell you're the creator of the photograph immediately because of the ridiculous, and obvious computer enhancement. other than that great composition.

Kent, Is English your second language? As I explained, the camera could not handle the range of light (to use an unedited or only slightly adjusted singel exposure), but combining three bracket exposures helped. I fully acknowleged that this is not realistic yet.

Aren't those statements of "no computer enhancement" hilarious? They're most often used to distract the buyer away from the obvious and ridiculous Velvia and Provia color enhancement. And those charlatans complain about Photoshop... what a joke!

Their print was heavily manipulated by chemical composition from the start, heavily modified in the darkroom, scanned via CCD imager into an RGB color space, converted into a printer's CMYK color space (and probably 8 bit color... 256 colors per pixel). The resulting "as is" is nothing like "as it was", but they heavily imply that obvious and outright lie all the time.

You can worship at that temple if you want, but don't waste your time preaching to me about it.

The Sierra's are the "Range of light" and it shows. I believe those bitching at your enhancement are just simply jealous. Your an artist.

tlounsbury3876 - Thank you! This result was simply a rescue attempt of a shot that single digital photographs alone could not handle. At all. I don't advocate HDR, it's just one of many tools that can come in handy from time to time. I have some detailed articles on my blog which discuss the tradeoffs.
