In the early 20th Century we built tuberculosis sanitariums all over the United States, believing that the 'cure' was clean air and rest away from the general population. Many of these buildings exist today as hospitals and cooperative apartments. I lived in one that was converted to a dormitory while at University. The discovery of antibiotics rendered them obsolete as places of healing. I think Inhalatorium is a name for the same thing.
