Thanks, Bruce. I just took a quick tour through your gallery - great collection of images - those storm images from the 1980's are impressive. Good luck in the NPC. I have to say your entry was one of the last I eliminated as I struggled to get down to 10. Looks like you are getting good support from others! Regards, Rob

Well, thanks a heap, Mister!! ;-) Just kidding :-) - I too had a horrible time weeding out the last 20 or so shots in the NPC - it was overwhelming.

Really glad you enjoy the tornado shots. I am curious to see if GE accepts them - for me, that is all I ask for of any shot, and that will be thrilling. If not, I won't be surprised - tornadoes are not a usual landscape component :-)

But they are pretty typical weather in some parts and it seems like GE has accepted rainbows and other serendipitous weather/natural events. I hope they take'em - they are amazing! Not sure I would have been able to hold the camera steady enough to record them:O!

Bruce da Moose, on February 19, 2009, said:

It was not easy to hold that camera steady - that wind howled! I took some 16mm movie film too, but without a heavy tripod the film is about useless.

GE has rejected quite a few tornado/waterspout shots unless they have had a good amount of background / foreground landscape with them. We'll see what they do with these :-)

You may be right about GE - I am certainly no expert. But I have driven across Tornado Alley a half dozen times in my life (not looking for storms but just getting from the left coast to the right) and have virtually NO pictures of the country between Denver and the Mississippi (no doubt a commentary on my creativity). That said, if GE wants images that illustrate that landscape (flatness), your images that just happen to include some spectacular weather would be pretty representative. And you can tell them I said so!

Fair enough! :-) Ever been to Missouri or Arkansas? Some gorgeous country there in the hills - caves, waterfalls, canyons...

photodegraff, on February 19, 2009, said:

Yes, made it to Arkansas this past summer (my 50th state) and was impressed with how pretty the parts of that state we visited are. And I am sure there are pretty parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, etc - but the stretches crossed by the interstates are pretty flat and unremarkable - vistas an occasional storm can only add interest to -though I don't wish those tornadoes on anybody!

Except ME! Wish them on ME! I wants 'em!
