Again with the huge chimney! Poor old house...
I would love to have this as a private place all my own.
That, my dear woman, was also your kitchen stove in the century before you were born, so it would need to accommodate a lot of pots, kettles and probably spits. You would not love to have this as a private place all your own in the Virginia winter . . . .
Ah, but I do not wear a winter coat even in the Pennsylvania winters, and our indoor themostat is set at a constant 62 for budgetary reasons...so I'm not fearful of a lack of heat so much as I am leery of the total collapse of my mental and spiritual equilibrium due to a paucity of privacy. If the door locks, I'll take it!
"Door," quotha! What a sissy! Do you realize how much money could be saved if no one in our fair country installed a door? Besides, the doors in Virginia are needed as you may see for firewood for our kitchen stoves--it can get pretty chilly if the fire goes out!
Besides, privacy is anathema to a free society--ask any Supreme Court Justice. This IS the 21st Century!
Privacy is the epitome of bliss, in my humble opinion.
I have to agree with BMGrace on that one... :).. Another sweet old ruin !
We always romanticize what we cannot have. There will be no privacy, although BMGrace et al. may otherwise enjoy bliss.
