Cyprus was, is and will stay forever Greek

mkatzi3 on September 6, 2007

cyprus is always goin to be a greek cypriot island, get the turkish troops out of cyprus, theres no need for them in this GREEK island, we want our homes back and this should never been aloud to happen, they have ruined my home land.

What a pitty for people who ignore historical realities. You easily forget what happened in 1960, greeks devastated Treaty of Guarentee and then massacre of turkish people followed it. Don't try to excuse yourself and it cannot change the history to act the innocent side.

Dear All! I have been only photograph this place, don't valuated it.

IN MY ISLAND EVERYBODY USED TO LIVE PEACEFULLY. BUT THEN GREEK PEOPLE WERE FORCED BY TURKS TO LEAVE THEIR HOMES. THAT 'S THE TRUTH.

It's not turkish it's not greek! This is Cyprus with cypriot people who are born and live here who have more rights than both of yous put together. One country, one nationality! I'm Polish, I have a very good german friend we have help eachother out a few big problems, Need i go on? I have learned to forgive and forget? What I'm saying "GET OVER IT AND STOP LIVING IN PAST!" Look to the future and fuck the turks and the greek off and make it one country for the "CYPRIOTS"!

Paphoscyprusgirl on February 1, 2008

I WISH THAT COULD BE DONE.

some people are really negative to search history....

~turkankerimova, την December 4, είπε:

If you pay attention at the history, all Cyprus belonged to the Turks once. If the Greeks don`t sit calm in South Cyprus, I think, the Turks will free the island from Greeks totally and make it Turkish Republic of Cyprus.~

我去过这片死城,真奇怪了,这么好的地方,变成鬼城了!

Sajnos én is láttam és éreztem! Egyszer biztos vége lesz!

Cyprus belongs to Cypriots. Not to greece and not to turkey

ssatir on April 12, 2008

Name of the city: Maraş What a pitty for the world. That is a dead city.

ikonomid1960 on April 13, 2008

Very typical view of whats left after turks march by...death, pillage, carnage, destruction of civilization. These are the only contributions of the ottomans to the human "culture"! EVER!

ikonomid1960 on June 15, 2008

Dear TurkanK, Thanks for the historical facts-which I have seen on cheap souvenir maps on plates etc...please be informed that before 395 AD Cyprus was not terra incognita, inhabited by apes or anything! Colonized by Greeks well before 500 BC, it stayed Greek under "byzantine" -which was the largely Greek Eastern Roman empire-Turks call the greeks in turkey "Rum" (roman) up to this day-e.g.Rumeli Hissar...but enough with history, as you point out, lets strive for a better, peaceful future...

MEKABE on August 27, 2008

HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN SELANIK? THAT WAS NEARLY 500 A TURK CITY? AND RODOS ISLAND?

cyprus49 on November 22, 2008

I never heard so much rubish uttered by uncivilised turks,i am british and i was in cyprus in 1974 when your invading troops where killing inocent people in front of the then U.N troops who could not do anything about it.By the way i was one of those u.n soldiers.I have seen the way you behave killing young and old,so please shut up and try at least to reunify this beutifull island and leave in peace.

I lived in the taller block on the left (Oceanea) in 1969/70 - what a pity it's now in the state it is.

Having lived and worked in Northern Cyprus for over four years during the 90's and also having been fortunate enough to tour the dead city on August 20th 1994 (20 years to the day since the Turkish Invasion).

Northern Cyprus contains some of the worlds most precious architecture. Famagusta enjoys beautiful beaches starved of people to enjoy. Pyla village sees enourmous smuggling between separated Cypriots. A bumbling puppet government struggle to rise above corruption under the poor Turkish Currency and a third world budget.Old Greek homes now house 3rd Generations of families who don't particularly understand that their Grandparents were allocated to this house by the Turkish Military and now treat it as their family home. Both sides accuse the other of attrocity and genocide. Well, nowadays people are beginning to understand that war for futile religious arguments is a ridiculous waste of life.

The Greeks must accept monetary compensation for their past possessions and live in peace and harmony with the resettled Turks and Cypriots. The Turks must show humility, friendship and forego some strict muslim fundamentalism to live again in a multicultural modern society.
