My curiosity has got the better of me here claus. I think you owe us an explanation !!!
Have'nt heard from you for a while, I hope all is well with you my friend.
I'm fine, thank you Jim. Where did I hear that before: "curiosity kills the cat"? But you are right, only locals can make out what this is. So here follows the explanation for Panoramigo's: a brug is a bridge, and IJburg is a housing estate under construction. The 2 is for photo nr 2, here is photo nr 1 Brug bij IJburg 1, where you can see the bridge more clearly. IJburg is being built on reclaimed land in the IJsselmeer, the former Zuiderzee, an inland sea that you can easily distinguish when you see a map of Holland. On the Google map, IJburg still looks like a white sandy desert, but in the mean time a lot of houses have been built already. The greenery that you see in the photo and on the map, is the "jungle" of the P.E.N. island, where you can find a power plant of the Provinciale Elektriciteitsmaatschappij Noord-Holland. They will convert this jungle into an agreeable park for the IJburgers. Pity, pity, pity, it is nice and adventurous as it is, ideal for children, why always everything has to be hot-ironed and smoothened out? But I'm wandering from my subject, the bridge and road is not yet connected to the A1, at the other side of the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal. One of these days I will go to this place again, I have not been there since 09.07.2006.
Hope the cat is still alive after this long story.
Best regards, Claus
Ahh, thankyou Claus for clearing.up the mystery. Just one thing you forgot, tell me, is it just a trick of the camera lens or do those lamp-posts realy lean inwards ???
Great feedback. A chat with you is so much a pleasure.
No Jim, no photoshop or tricky lens here. What you see is pure nature, the lamp-posts are leaning inwards. Only place where I've seen this kind of lighting is here, probably the architect wanted to make this bridge look a little bit more special, and I must admit: it's not a bad idea.
