Must have been terribly dangerous to be there Ian! Having a great time I guess :)
Take care ~ Maja ~~~
Beautiful composition with the blue sky Ian. Greetings Berend
Great time indeed! Danger is minimised if you have expert guiding. And I will continue to take care, be assured dear friend. Glaciation fascinates me!
I wanted to bring the blue of the glacial ice and the blue of the sky together. Glad you appreciate it. Thanks.
Fascinating structures, Ian! Ice enough for all partys all life long!
Greetings from icy Hamburg, Klaus
Starkly beautiful Ian ~ Glaciers always appear so menacing to me ~ Best wishes ~ nick
Warm greetings from a chilly autumn evening in NZ, Klaus. I agree. The snowfall at the summit of this glacier is around 34M per year, and it has a very large neve so yes there is plenty of ice in the ice dispenser!!
Hope your winter disappears soon and there is a summer. That was one of the inducements for my Dithmarschen ancestors to migrate away from Hamburg that they might live in a land of "eternal summer"!
Glaciers are menacing, Nick but very predictable. The real menace is when one tries to ascend them!! Or when the high glaciers above decide it is time for an avalanche!! Yep - plenty of menace even for the experienced guides and climbers.
Tourism seems a whole lot safer than mountain climbing in alpine areas.
Greetings from a tourist in Kiwi country!
WOW! Absolutely artistic. Golden ☆ + LIKEd
I am delighted that this appeals to you, Ah-Pong - for it does to me too. Thanks so very much for the accolades. I am grateful for a 300mm lens for this photo, for it would not have been possible or wise to be anywhere near the icefalls!!
