La Soufriere Volcano (4048') is the highest mountain in St Vincent and the Grenadines and the third highest peak in the Eastern Caribbean. The volcano last erupted in 1979.

It can be climbed from the white building in the centre of the picture. The white building is Richmond Vale Academy and is a training school for volunteers that go to Africa but it also has a hiking centre with a local and very experienced guide.
