"Wheyi lass th shudhev sed thow was a geordy gannin alon.Whey thars nowt wrang wi that lass. Thoos not eshamed of thar draggin up, ayer- heh?"
I just thought I would enter the venacular(Geordy Speak) to remind you what a small world it has become. If you cant understand the first sentence
" whi divernt botha, thars not urt owt"--- evansy
Hi Evansy Ne ahm not ashamed of me accent. Ah love it. Ah dee miss the chatter wi other Geordies. Ah miss The Toon an the cold winters an the wet Springs an wandering around in the clarts.
Wi hev a lot of Geordies in Frankston, so Ah get te stretch the tonsils every noo an agyen .
The wrost thing aboot bein heor is bein away frem the family. Wi divvent hev any kids of wor aan an miss the neices an newphew. Aa've ernly seen me sister daugter once an nivvor met me husbands brothers an sisters kids. Still aal in aal Australia's not a bad playce te live - it waad be betta if it were aal Geordies heor. LOL!
So there.....how was that then for a transplanted Geordie in Aussie?
Ahreet den,--aiiyh-daas ah canny yan, areet.
I enjoyed that Palmina, I dont think that any other dialect in England is as rich and distinctive as a true Geordy. Me, I've lived in other areas of the country, mostly Tees-side and North Yorks for so many years that my own dialect is a strange mixture.
The amusing thing is that the above text, to others, appears like some obscure language . Welsh for instance. Nice to talk.--evansy
Hi Evansy how's it gannan? My AUnty moved to Thornaby many years ago and she has a mixture of Teeside and Geordie. Everyone will probably think we are two doofases with teh Geordie lingo. LOL
G'DAY Palmina, and how are you today(in the perfect Queens English). "Whey ahl tellyah sumat noo", I would much much rather "doofas aboot" as you so very nicely put it, than to pretend otherwise. I know that for some, photography is a _very serious subject- and to my horror I have discovered that some people can get very sensitive to a cast off comment spoken as a jesting compliment in an open and honest way. Talk about over sensitve, I'm simply amazed. Any way, thats all I'm saying on the subject.
Palmina, its lovely to talk to you cos quite clearly we are on the same wave-length. "Power to you elbow" as we say.
Have you seen the Geordie website where it will translate anything into Geordie, it's funny. It's such a shame that some of the old words are no longer used. If I say some of them at work they look at me like I'm tappin'

Hi Jim I'm feeling tickidy boo today. It's only 6.45 and I've been up since 4.00 a.m. so I'm going back to bed in a second for another hour or so.
I know what you mean, sometimes my humour doesn't translate very well. You'll have a bit of a laugh with Billy Bark too.
Take care, regards, Palmina
