Beautiful picture Ian, nice that little piece of sunlight. Greetings Berend

Ian Stehbens on April 11, 2011

It was a special morning, Berend and there was great expectation because it was so still. I was hoping for some great reflections. However, the main lake was ruffled by a very gentle breeze, so I was confined to the quiet corners of the lake for my photography- but I wasn't disappointed in the least.

Warm greetings from Christchurch.

Dear Palmina,

Thanks for enjoying this image and for your thoughtfulness. All the family are well, and at the moment I am sending you greetings from Christchurch.

Beautiful hidden depths here dear Ian. I particularly like the silver glimmer in the lower LH corner, as if the grasses were sneezing, in the thumbnail at least ;)

Are these Phormiums growing around the edges?

Warm greetings from Norway, where the spring is arriving, Amelia

Ian Stehbens on April 13, 2011

Glad your spring is arriving, Amelia for that means more wonderful images from Norway's shores. Thanks for your appreciation of the elements of this image. Yes New Zealand flax is a Phormium, I believe - at any rate an icon of NZ. It appears in many art forms here, though I don't know of any linen mills operating any more.

Best6 wishes for a wonderful spring, summer and good health dear friend.

Absolutely gorgeous, Ian! Such a beautiful combination of colours, and brilliant contrast of sunshine & shade. I zoomed x 2 to get a better look and daydreamed for a few minutes. I love it and I'm keeping it. Cheers from snowy Saskatchewan! Theolfa

Ian Stehbens on April 16, 2011

Hello Agnieszka. Thanks for the compliments. The flax in the background is classical NZ plant... almost an icon here. I am really pleased you like this beauty.

Wonderful Theolfa - thanks! That a photo is able to engage you like that makes me very pleased, and I fell honoured by your awarding it a ☆. The hours we spent besides this small lake were very special for the peripheral walk is full of surprises.

These greetings come from shakey Christchurch where there have been 11 quakes today, the biggest at 5.3 only an hour ago.

Eleven quakes in one day! And the day not ended yet, Ian! I can't even begin to imagine it. I pray it will all be over soon. Theolfa

Thank you frederique35 for your appreciation... and it is nice to meet you here in Panoramio.

Dear Theolfa,

It seems that it takes quite some tome for a major earthquake to settle and the variety of aftershocks prevent people from settling down, too. There was another small quake today - just big enough to feel.

Until the big quake last September, Christchurch didn't know it was sitting on top of faults, so it has come as a 'shock' if you will forgive the pun.

Regards,

Ian (last night in NZ)

Lake Matheson

Ian Stehbens on January 23, 2012

Indeed it is a most private and most delightful corner of this picturesque lake, dear . I am once again greatly honoured by your decision to paint from this inspiration. I will treasure it.

It is an invitation to come this way, one day soon...and we will explore many special spots.

Let the pomegranate roll.........

Most appreciatively,

Ian
