What a joy to go for a spin, 2 recreational photographers together, along the shores of Wakatipu, until we reached Majesty at Glenorchy, then continued into the upper valley beyond Paradise!!

I was almost breathless with excitement, hopping out and hopping in the car, for we were given our freedom, but with limited hours!

Thanks Alan for letting me take the wheel! An afternoon never to be forgotten!

The glaciated Van (right) and Afton (far left) Valleys join the upper reaches of Lake Wakatipu here. The range of Ridge Peak (1841M) had received its first dusting of winter snow 2 days before this photo, most of it already melted.

Colour + Majesty + Variety + Mood = Landscape Beauty. It was all abounding, and every bend in the road surprised us with more.

Excellent picture Ian, what a nice view.

Did you drove in the cabrio? Greetings Berend

It attracted me too, Jeff! The owner, Alan, is in the photo, using his camera. We had a wonderful exploration together that afternoon. Glad you like the image so much. Thanks again.

I did indeed, Berend. It was me who left the door wide open as I bolted to take this photo!! There were very few cars about that afternoon so it seemed we had almost the whole valley to ourselves.

My wife and I were teaching at a seminar at Queenstown, and one afternoon was free time allowing us such an opportunity. Alan the owner of the cabrio is also a keen photographer whom I am introducing to Panoramio - we may see the photo he was taking in Pano also.

Warm regards,

Ian

I know how much you like yellow, Simona and there were plenty of European and Asian trees in yellow foliage as it is autumn here but they are found in the townships. But wouldn't it be enven more lovely to have some splashes of yellow here?

I is wonderful to share mutul encouragement. Thanks for your special images in Pano too.

Warmest regards,

Dear Karin,

I was so excited to have the opportunity to explore this valley courtesy of my new friend who owns the red car. I don't have much hair but the wind, in what I have, made the drive most memorable. It is a most attractive and majestic landscape.

Warmest regards,

Ian
