The Angel's Gate Lighthouse sits not on the shore, but on a concrete block at an opening in the 9,250 foot breakwater that protects this harbor, one of the busiest import gateways to the United States. It's green light and two-note foghorn guide sailors entering and leaving from the northern opening in the breakwater.

Dynamic picture. The clouds add so much character to the image. MAL

Beautifully captured.

Pennington Geis on April 18, 2011

Thanks, MAL -- dynamic is just how that morning felt!

Hank, as I was planning my trip to San Pedro, Google Maps helped me prepare. Your photos made it feel like an old friend was showing me around.

Pennington Geis on April 18, 2011

Hank -- It's fun to see the contrast in mood between our two photos of the same lighthouse.

What a light and dramatic image. Love it.

Thanks, Tomas -- Sailors may wish for less stormy weather, but for photographers, it's hard to beat a threatening sky!

beautiful night shot ! YSL Best regards, Don Z

Thank you, everyone! Not a night shot, but an early dawn shot, as we left San Pedro headed for Sausalito. That threatening sky made good on its promise of a choppy sea.
