This was taken in early September 2001.
This is an old apple packing plant on Rt 144 1/4 mile west of Hancock MD. When I was a kid, this place was trucks loading for the market place.
On March 6, 2010, I noticed that this old apple packing house is now under demolition. The feature photographed remains, but will probably be gone very soon. The roof and upper floor are already gone, and this loading dock is next to go.
I was wrong, the demolition was begun by nature. Very heavy winter snows caused the roof of this old packing house to collapse. Man is now beginning to finish the job, according to the April 7, 2010 edition of the Hancock News. For more info about this historic building, check the article in the Hancock News.
