Look on Elgin Maps, they show the Pillboxes up most times. It also shows on the OS 1:25000 scale map.

im was thinking of getting a machete but as its against the law to have one on public land im not sure how to deal with brambles and stinging nettles ...

Nettles you can use a stick or stand on but you could put some in your bag to deal with Brambles
