First, A HAPPY EASTER TO YOU ALL

I'm flattered by all the interest that has been shown in this photo and delighted after reading all your brilliant comments :) I appreciate that big photos require more time to manipulate the view ;>)

Ṩtink~~~To be honest Si, the shots took only seconds and CS5 does the rest! The resulting images were stitched to perfection and the colours/contrasts/exposures have not been enhanced in any way! Thanks once again for your invaluable gift!

cjlin~~~The simple truth is that harbour scenes and nautical themes, photographed in good light, are very popular with viewers. It is good luck on my part that gives me access to such scenery! Thank you so much for your lovely compliment

buwi~~~I greet you warmly Bea ;) Your generous praise and Like vote is much appreciated!

愛 Sylvietsak 女~~~Thank you so much for your Easter wishes Sylvie...May the sweet light shine on you always!

♦Rosa♦~~~~This harbour-side has been my favourite place for many decades, and my playground when I was only six years old..My parents had no idea that I was sneaking away from my nearby home under their noses! I'm glad you came to share this view which has enthralled me all my life!

Denise Gregory~~~Thank you so much Denise, I appreciate your generous appraisal and Y*

West Riding~~~It's easy when you live here Ian, thinking about the harbour filling on the flood-tide, sensing that the air is still and the "Whitby Light" is at its very best! Your appraisal and Y* is much appreciated Ian ;)

JKG1944~~~~~Thanks a lot John, I enjoyed your feedback! The stitching of photos has become a whole lot easier since I started using CS5...There is plenty of scope for shooting some broad landscapes that are beyond the capacity of my widest lens! My sincere thanks for the Y* ;)

ah-p☺ng~~~It's good to receive your visit and kind appraisal _ah-p☺ng_, I'm glad that you liked it ;>)

Samantha Lacy ღ~~~~You know that you will always be warmly welcomed Sam, I missed your visits and good fun chats! I'm happy to escort you through my pics any time! HUGS!!

GordJessPhotos~~~~~It is hard to believe that you are still in the grip of winter GG..We have been enjoying (well until the coastal fog arrived) the hottest, sunniest April ever! Good to read your lovely compliments GG ;>)

Giorgio Sari~~~Always a pleasure to see you in my pages Giorgio, Your generous praise is much appreciated!

mbe21~~~~Your observations are correct Mick, the leisure boating industry may well be the saviour of Whitby as a port! The local shipyard, PARKOL, whose floating dock can be seen on the opposite side of the river, were busily building trawlers until recently but their order books have dried up leaving them without much of a future. There are a few boats visiting the yard each year for major refits and re-painting! The large white covered-in structure is protecting the latest all-steel ship, a state of the art ocean going tug-boat, a new departure for this yard!

K@rin~~~~~I'm happy that you liked this photo K@rin, I enjoyed the pleasure of shooting it! Thanks for your Y*, even if you forgot to press the chalice, I know that you meant to!

Clive on Beara~~~I had never thought of it as knitting Clive ;>) I know that I unravel at times and at others I am only knitting on one needle! Thanks for your generous comment.

To you all, I express my sincere gratitude for your visits, precious comments, your endorsements and sundry accolades!

Kind regards :)

Jim

Oh yes Jim! Well, I've been reading all the previous comments, and I can only agree with them: you did a fantastic job! I love these reflections very much, and when you enlarge the picture twice, there are a lot of details to enjoy. The fact that the place used to be your playground and is still your favourite makes it even more special.

And a bit selfishly, I must add that it's a great pleasure for me to see what a little compact can do; I've still not chosen to buy a bigger one and I enjoy my compact very much, but sometime (and very recently, during my trip in the Cinque Terre), I cross the path of many photographers carrying their big camera, and I have a sort of feeling that they obviously should be the ones who do the best pictures ! So, your pictures shows that compacts definitly can compete!!!

Have a nice day, and a Happy Easter too!

Joelle

Stunning resolution and good work on the 'stitching', Jim. You can actually read the names on some of the boats.

One in particular, 'Davy's Lady: is that any reference to it's owner, or any connection to Davy Jones, as in 'sent down to Davy Jones' locker?

A very happy Easter to you all

Leo Roundtree~~~That is a very evocative thought Leo..I am certain that we would have much to discuss! I'm delighted you stopped by!

JoelleGiannoni~~~After the euphoria, following my purchase of a DSLR wore off, I began to appreciate just how good these digital zoom cameras are...There will always be a place in my portfolio and gallery for my little Nikon! You have every right to feel a sense of reality Joelle, go with what you know best and keep on taking those quality shots that adorn the pages of your gallery!

A Pano friend (Si) recently acquired an up to date version of my COOLPIX..THIS IS HIS GALLERY and, in my humble opinion, he is getting excellent results, as good as any you will see in most galleries!

geomanncer~~~Thanks for the affirmation..I have used this camera in other panoramas and I honestly cant fault it..It does the job without any fuss or drama! As for the boasts, I know many of the owners and our courses often cross at sea..This is where your friends really matter at times! I think Davy's real lady will feel a little jealous of Arvor!

cep_~~~You are most welcome..I'm glad that you liked it!

To you all, I express my sincere gratitude for your visits, precious comments, your endorsements and for taking the time to look!

Kind regards :)
