Koh Sichang-island, Asdangkhanimit Temple

Wat Asdangkhanimit (Temple).

In 1892, King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), gave a royal command to build this Chedi. The building itself is in a spherical shape with arched roof and a Sinhalese style stupa stacked on top. Arched doors and windows of the Chedi are decorated with Gothic stained glass.

Inside the temple, (For inside view see another photo, by the same photographer), there is a consecrated hall constructed in a round shape to resemble a pagoda base. Lan Prataksin or terrace for ceremonial walking ran around the hall. In front, King Chulalongkorn planted the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi Tree, brought from India.
