The Walls of Jerusalem national park is considerated to be the jewel in the crown of Tasmania's National Parks. In fact : rugged landscape, alpine vegetation and it's history make it unique.
During the last ice age, valley glaciers curved the present landscape.
The valley vegetation is mainly charactarised by Pencil pines (endemic to Tasmania), shrubs and grassland.
In early 1800s the central highlands was an ideal hiding place for bushrangers (thiefs).

The two best places I have seen in Tasmania are perhaps Walls of Jerusalem for the Inland, and Wineglass Bay for the Coastline.
