The Walls of Jerusalem national park is considerated to be the jewel in the crown of Tasmania's National Parks. In fact : rugged landscape, alpine vegetation and it's history make it unique.

  • During the last ice age, valley glaciers curved the present landscape.

  • The valley vegetation is mainly charactarised by Pencil pines (endemic to Tasmania), shrubs and grassland.

  • In early 1800s the central highlands was an ideal hiding place for bushrangers (thiefs).

The two best places I have seen in Tasmania are perhaps Walls of Jerusalem for the Inland, and Wineglass Bay for the Coastline.
