Most unusual tall rock. Do you kn ow what type of rock it is? I mean it it granite or limestone? I am always interesting in things like this Ray. When we go places I often pick up small stone and rocks and sometimes I get a little carried away and bring home some larger ones. Nothing illegal though!!. When I was over in Belarus in 2009, I cam e across some chalk mines and I also saw some of the most interesting smooth light grey colour rocks on the outside, that I had ever seen before. They were very heavry. ON the inside they were a dark grey to black colour. The man I was with wanted me to take back a large rock about 10 inches across that would have weighed about 5kgs!! I declined as it was too heavy and I didn't want any trouble when I was leaving Belarus through Customs. I did take some very small one of around 2 inches in length. To this day I have not as yet found out what type of rock it was, but it was certainly different. Anyway great to this shot. Y*, KInd REgards, David

David, thank you for looking at my gallery. Here is a description of Chimney Rock:

Chimney Rock is a tall rock formation known as a sand pipe. It was formed when a geyser eventually shut down and its channel solidified due to the minerals in its waters. After thousands of years of erosion eroded the soils around the geyser, the resulting sand pipe was exposed.

Cheers, Ray

Vittorio, Grazie per aver visitato e guardando la mia galleria fotografica e le sue gentili parole sulla mia foto. Questa struttura in pietra sono i resti di un geyser. Cordiali saluti e auguri provenienti da USA, Ray
