I know what you are feeling and saying, Maciu, and I too feel a real sadness. However, guys like this are making a significant difference in their communities, churches and their own lives. The politics of power, militarism, social conflict, and debates over truth, justice, even mercy are not facile or quickly ended. We work to generate immediate responses, as well as to train and prepare people for designing and sustaining long-term peace.

We are seeing inter-village reconciliations, resolution of complicated chiefly title disputes, marriages transformed, local churches taking an interest in the well-being, dignity and future of residents of squatter settlements, and national leaders vigorously addressing national issues. I am sure you know how complex the national issues within Fiji are, Maciu.

We'll keep trying.
