Queen of the Lake District: Dewent Water.

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

A high view of Derwent Water from its high Fell of Latrigg. My favorite lake in the Cumbrian 'Lake District'. Beneath us here, is the North Lakeland town of Keswick a very popular place indeed.

Kosta, thank you for your visit, now some time ago. Very pleased that you liked this one.

Niel, welcome to my gallery. Great that you too enjoy this. I must admit, until I put this here, I had not seen the lake from this angle either. Glad you like it. Please call again.

Festive Greetings, Herb

It looks to me that I indeed was wrong Herb to point my shot at Lake Bassenthwaite. This beautiful and from another point taken panoramaview looks indeed the same lake as I had captured. So I immediately will change the title of my picture and will point in GM at Derwent Water. Thanks for the tip.

Jack, I actually believed your lake was indeed Bassentwaite taken from an angle that I did not know. Tis a great picture anyway. Hope you looked at this full size :) As for tip - don't mention it -as we say over here!

Greetings, Herb

Well I still believe you were right in the first place Herb and I was wrong. Just a while aga I have taken a closer look on Google Maps and other pictures that can be found on internet from both lakes and did see those little islands at above picture and my photo only in Derwent Water. Lake Bassentwaite looked totally different and had as far as I could discover no islands like this.

This investigation also brought back again a lot of nice memories. We had a fantastic holiday of 9 days with only 2 days of rain, as you could see at my window-picture ;-)
