The dead mall comments are from the Wall Street Journal. The developer miscalculated the market. Evidently the local consumers are not of the demographic to support the mall. It is similar to the 2009 "Dubai" syndrome...that is the economy was supported by all of the construction and growth. Take away the rampant growth and replace with economic "equilibrium" and the income of consumers is simply not there. This happened in Las Vegas also in 2008-09.
