You always have a sense of "jungle" at Cahal Pech. A lot of government-sponsored labor is devoted to keeping the site clear of vegetation debris.
Cahal Pech is about a $5 US cab ride from San Ignacio, and the entry fee now is $5 US [=$10 Belize] per person. Excellent licensed tour guides are available in San Ignacio, and I would recommend you seek one out for at least the first tour you make.
