You are already in deep Fall,Marilyn. What a wonderful stormy sky.Cheers Daniela

Marilyn Whiteley on October 12, 2007

Thanks, Daniela. The sky was stormy but three hours later nothing has happened yet. It seems to be a very mixed fall, with some trees mostly or completely bare, like those you see here, while others still have their full supply of green leaves!

AlexMatos on October 12, 2007

Wow...fantastic sky, so heavy, did you get a ...good rain?

Cheers, Alex

Marilyn Whiteley on October 12, 2007

No, Alex, not yet, and we need one. It's been a dry autumn, and some tree leaves are turning brown and dropping off without a good show of colour. Cheers, Marilyn

Kent Martens on October 12, 2007

Good leaves, Marilyn. I really feel that sky.

Cheers, Kent

Francesco Villa on October 13, 2007

Hi Marilyn, I like this shot; not easy at all to keep the colours of the leaves with such dark sky and "surroundings"!! Complimenti e ciao Francesco

Marilyn Whiteley on October 13, 2007

Thank you, Kent and Francesco. At first I was sorry that the sun had gone, but then I saw that the dark sky had something to offer! I'm glad you like the result. Marilyn

I sighed when I saw your gorgeous Maple Leaves Marilyn! :D

Pam (who read your reply re a prairie peeps view of the Mountains and left it unanswered because it was the perfect ending for that thread).

Marilyn Whiteley on October 14, 2007

Thanks, Pam. There's so much variety in our area right now--stark, colourful, and still green. I wonder whether it's usually this way; it seems to me to be unusual. Marilyn

Lilypon on October 14, 2007

Every year here lately seems unusual to me Marilyn. ;)

This catches the mood of a late autumn afternoon perfectly. Makes me want to pull my jacket closer!

Marilyn Whiteley on October 17, 2007

That's just what I did, Penny, when I looked up and saw how the clouds were moving in--even though it wasn't really any colder than a few minutes earlier when I took the picture of that line of maples! The mood had changed!

Glad to see You captured many great photos!

The same strange (unusual) weather colours around me too! :) I made lot of photos only for last weeks to memorize fall colours near me too, but have not enough free time for visit and comment my favorite pages nor upload my photos! :(

Marilyn Whiteley on October 19, 2007

Thank you, Ainars. I look forward to when you have time to upload more photos--but the most important thing is to see and enjoy those fall colours while they are there!

Marilyn - more than a year later, I find this image still comes to mind when I am out in this late autumn weather. At least for me, this has become an iconic image of late autumn. YS!! Penny

Marilyn Whiteley on November 21, 2008

Thank you so much, Penny! I appreciate your comment and the YS.

This year I had little chance to appreciate late autumn due to our schedule (with a meeting in California and the arrival of our first grandchild), and the abrupt and early appearance of winter! I'm not ready yet for that. November snow doesn't usually stay around but it did last year, so we never can tell ... Marilyn

Why haven't I commented on this special image before? I love the composition and the mood Marilyn.
