For clarity and accuracy: The big red bridge is the Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate is the gap beteen the two headlands.

not quite sure what you mean rcornfor, did anyone suggest it was not the Golden Gate Bridge? ;-)

Hi Julia, I love your photo and I have been to the location from which you took it many times and have taken similar photos. My point is that the bridge in the photo is not the Golden Gate, as implied by your title. The Golden Gate is actually the gap between the headlands. It was named by the Spaniards long before the Golden Gate Bridge was built in the 1930s. The bridge is called The Golden Gate Bridge. I am not really trying to be argumentative, just accurate, as this is a very common error. :-)

aaah, that's what you meant, I guess I was just to lazy to spell it out as I was certain anyone would recognize this bridge ;-)

Yes, there is an look out observation deck near 32nd Avenue and El Camino Del Mar Drive. There is a path from East side of 17th hole putting green (Lincoln Park Golf Course) Everytime I visit San Francisco, I drive along this route from the Lincoln Park, through Presidio National Park, to the Golden Gate Bridge. Aerial View of San Francisco Hey, I did not now "Golden Gate" meant the gap between two headlands! Here is a URL to National Park Service, look under "Lands End"
