Seen from the South, is one of the most impressive peaks of the Annapurna Region. It towers more than 5000 meters above the valley of the Modi Khola and blocks the view to the 8091 meters high Annapurna I. It's north-eastern slopes are impressively high above the Annapurna Sanctuary, a popular trekking destination. Seen from the west Annapurna South looks like a beautiful pyramid.
