Of all the Churches I have visited, this is the oldest... Part of it date from 1068.. it is about half a mile from the nearest road - up a long track. It is a beautiful place.. a joy to visit.

Amazing how some of these churches are still in good condition after all this time. Some of these builders of today should take a leaf out of their books. LIKE, LOZ

Its Beautiful Anglican Church Frozen In Time, Best Regards linrich

Hiya Loz - You have to be right! This place is over a thousand years old and as lovely as a lot of this Church is, there are places, where time has not been too kind to the structure. On the other (north) side of the Church, you can see remains of an old stone staircase that was the access to a "rood" loft... It collapsed around the time of the Tudors and was patched up in a crudish manner... Still, the repair has lasted all these years..

Thanks for the like :-)

Amazing old church SuperSteve!

Who is to know if it is the construction keeping here standing or.. if it's her protector 0:)

Liked and Starred to keep her!

Take care now ya'hear! :)GG

Hiya GG! There has been some restoration done on this lovely place but check out where it is on the map.. It is 1/2 a mile from the nearest road and since many can't face a stroll of that distance, it is not often visited.... On the other hand, maybe this spot has a more 'all powerful' member of the congregation!

Chuffed you like it enough to add it to yer fav's :-)

Cheers

Looks like such a gentle peaceful place to rest! Like! After reading the comments I see that is truly true! How true that in our world we can't be bothered to walk half a mile. I remember when as a youth I would walk all day...just because I wanted to...and that has not been THAT long ago:)

Steven Stoddart on July 6, 2011

Hiya Joy :-) You ave described this place perfectly... and you are so right about a widespread dislike of walking! I have to admit that when it comes to places like this, the relative isolation means it is a quieter place...

Thanks for the like :-)
